More rare Dr. Strange foreign editions

Love the painted covers! This one reprints Marvel Team Up #50 and 51:
Interior page with a pin-up:

Also got this one from Barcelona, which ironically DOES NOT reprint the comic that is on its cover (Fantastic Four #27). Still, this is one of the only times Doc was drawn by the immortal Jack Kirby:

Cthulhu costume at Burning Man 2002

This costume was on display at Nova Express Cafe for many years. It was made by Jennifer Cho and Cary Long and nearly didn't survive a future Burning Man experience when it was run over by a truck. Here it is back in the day in all its glory. Sorry for the blurry photo but it was taken with my Watch Camera. (Back then Watch Cameras were the forefront of technology since no one had the ability to take pictures with their phone just yet.)

Cathulhu 3D Beer Coaster series

For the upcoming La Luz De Jesus Gallery "Beer Is Art" Coaster show (opening this Friday, September 6th) I put together four 3D lenticular coasters based on the famous cat paintings by Louis Wain. As far as the psychology textbooks say, Wain had schizophrenia and loved to paint cats. As his disease worsened he was eventually institutionalized, but continued to make art. His cats became more and more surreal as his insanity grew. Because of this I thought it would be a great match to mix the Wain cats with HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu, a monster who is known to drive people crazy. These lenticular beer coasters are a homage to both men's work. Here's the results:

My friend Mark Noel Miller is playing some amazing slide guitar at the Irisphere Gallery on Saturday, August 31st. If you haven't had an opportunity to see my 3D lenticular blacklight art show, this would be a great night to go!

Excelsior!

Me and Dr. Timothy Leary

I collaborated with Dr. Timothy Leary on the art for some of his books from 1992-1996 until he died. I was lucky enough to be in the room when he passed away, around friends and family, and got a standing ovation. Last thing I ever heard him say was "Beautiful... beautiful..."

Tim was my friend and I miss him.
