New 3D coasters on display at this years Third Annual La Luz De Jesus Gallery Coaster Show. Like my Cathulhus from 2 years ago, they are all lenticulars that pay tribute to Louis Wain's cat paintings and HP Lovecraft's monsters.

Check out the La Luz De Jesus Gallery in east Hollywood this Friday to see this one in person. Never before displayed in its entirety. Got it professionally mounted and framed and it looks really nice. They have it right by the entrance to the bathroom, so that's where it is if you can go see it.

Cathulhu 3D Beer Coaster series

For the upcoming La Luz De Jesus Gallery "Beer Is Art" Coaster show (opening this Friday, September 6th) I put together four 3D lenticular coasters based on the famous cat paintings by Louis Wain. As far as the psychology textbooks say, Wain had schizophrenia and loved to paint cats. As his disease worsened he was eventually institutionalized, but continued to make art. His cats became more and more surreal as his insanity grew. Because of this I thought it would be a great match to mix the Wain cats with HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu, a monster who is known to drive people crazy. These lenticular beer coasters are a homage to both men's work. Here's the results:

My new art piece in the Laluzapalooza Annual Group Show

My latest art piece will be on display along with the works of over 100 different artists at the annual La Luz de Jesus group show. It opening reception is this Friday and it should be quite the shindig.

1983

This is my lenticular piece that will be on display at La Luz de Jesus Gallery next month in the second part of their 25th Anniversary show, which has been getting some press lately!

It's based on my favorite Jimi Hendrix song, "1983 A Merman I Should Turn To Be".

La Luz de Jesus 25th Anniversary

My artwork is in this amazing catalog alongside some of the greatest artists of the early 21st century! You can get it by visiting La Luz de Jesus Gallery or by pre-ordering it online.

The piece I have in the 25th Anniversary show is a lenticular called "1983". In the book it's printed as a flat image, which doesn't really do it justice.

"1983" will make its 3D lenticular debut on November 4, 2011 at the gallery opening. Drop by if you can to check it out!

of new artist lectures at La Luz de Jesus

Shows close January 30th.

This afternoon we'll celebrate the end of an extraordinary pair of exhibitions by hosting two informative lectures. Steven Daily will illuminate the hidden symbols and secret handshakes that populate his dense expose of Masonic Conspiracies: Covenant.

Howard Hallis will relate the creative process and personal sacrifices that culminated in the completion of his thirteen-year and fifteen-feet-tall project The Picture of Everything.

This weekend is also the last chance to catch Tammi Otis' A Fertile Madness and Charles Binger's posthumous A Pulp Life. Two absolutely stunning collections that need to be seen.
